"A Series of Introductory Sessions on Islamic Psychology Currents Held"

In an effort to deepen understanding and expand the field of Islamic psychology, the Institute for Islamic Studies in Humanities at Ferdowsi University of Mashhad held an academic session titled "Introduction to Islamic Psychology Currents" on February 24, 2026. Held in the Council Hall of the Institute for Islamic Studies in Humanities, the session featured five specialized lectures by distinguished scholars in the field of Islamic psychology. The aim of the session was to examine various dimensions of Islamic psychology and to introduce influential currents within this academic discipline.

During the session, various speakers analyzed and elucidated different aspects of Islamic psychology:

Dr. Hadi Bahrami Ehsan, President of the Iranian Association of Islamic Psychology, in a lecture entitled "The Necessity of Introducing Islamic Psychology Currents," emphasized the need to introduce and explain this academic field to both the university community and the general public. He underscored the importance of discourse-building and institutionalizing Islamic psychology in addressing contemporary scientific and social challenges.

Dr. Mohammad Saeed Abdekhodaee, a faculty member at Ferdowsi University of Mashhad, in a presentation titled "Essential Requirements and Scope of Islamic Psychology," examined the characteristics and fundamental principles of Islamic psychology. He stressed the importance of attending to the religious and philosophical roots of this science in Iran and the Muslim world. He also pointed to the need to define the boundaries and scope of this discipline in relation to other contemporary psychological approaches.

Dr. Mahmoud Azadi, a faculty member at the Razavi Institute of Wisdom-Based Education, in his lecture entitled "Spiritual-Islamic Dignity Therapy," explained Islamic perspectives on spiritual therapy and psychotherapy. He examined therapeutic approaches grounded in human dignity from an Islamic perspective and highlighted the significance of these approaches in addressing the psychological and social issues facing society.

Dr. Seyyed Mohsen Asghari Nekah, a faculty member at Ferdowsi University of Mashhad, in a talk titled "Instinct or Sexual Need: A Look at Islamic Anthropology," analyzed the place of instinct and sexual need within Islamic anthropology. Drawing on Islamic religious and philosophical sources, he elaborated on the distinctions between instinct and sexual need and pointed to appropriate Islamic solutions for managing these needs.

Dr. Mansoureh Abolhasani, a faculty member at Ferdowsi University of Mashhad, in her lecture entitled "An Introduction to the Semantics and Types of Personality from the Perspective of the Holy Quran," examined the concept of personality and its types as presented in the Holy Quran. She analyzed human personality and Qur'anic criteria for evaluating personalities from various philosophical and psychological perspectives.

This academic session was attended by a number of professors, students, and researchers in the fields of psychology and Islamic studies, providing a valuable opportunity for the exchange of ideas and for advancing scholarly understanding in this area. The presence of this group of distinguished specialists and professors in the field of Islamic psychology marked an important step in clarifying and expanding this academic discipline in the country. These sessions also contributed to creating a suitable platform for introducing various currents of Islamic psychology and fostering academic synergy in this field.
